Profile
I am committed to user-centered Software Engineering. My exceptional Software Engineering and Design Thinking skills go hand in hand with my great motivation to write good code. I received the degree of Master in Software Engineering from Hasso Plattner Institute with a final grade of 'very good' and received my certificate of Design Thinking at the HPI School of Design Thinking. My academic studies are focused on Computer Vision, HCI, Visualization Technologies, and Computer Graphics. I have a special interest in Software Visualization and Information Visualization, Human-computer Interaction, Ubiquitous Computing, and mobile application development. My Software Engineering experiences are based on software projects in academic as well as professional contexts. I gained additional experience through Entrepreneurship activities since 2010.

Research Experience
Master of Science, Research Project Potsdam, Germany 2011
The master’s thesis seeks to develop a better understanding of head-coupled video see-through interfaces in the context of mobile camera-equipped devices. The developed prototype is a proof-of concept of multi-camera see-through devices. The presented view-dependent video augmentation system integrates rendered content seamlessly into the physical environment. The envisioned see-through device is capable of visualizing exactly the perceptual part of the user’s view that is hidden by the device.

Imaginary Interfaces Research Project Potsdam, Germany 2010
"Imaginary Interfaces" is a research project at the Human-Computer Interaction Lab of Prof. Patrick Baudisch at Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam, Germany.
Publication: Sean Gustafson, Daniel Bierwirth and Patrick Baudisch. 2010. Imaginary Interfaces: Spatial Interaction with Empty Hands and Without Visual Feedback. In Proceedings of the Symposium on User Interface Software and Technology (UIST '10), 10 Pages.

Undergraduate Research Project Weimar, Germany 2008
The project is an approach to physically based realtime glove controlled pupped animation used in children television. The combination of the developed animation framework with a data glove allows artists to animate virtual hand puppets exactly as if they had their hand inside a real-world latex puppet.
